About

Forged in the melting pot of Brighton’s electronic open mic scene, Patchworks is a label and collective interested in bringing something new and cohesive in the sphere of electronic and experimental music.
Patchworks started off the back of the Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM), put on by Evey and ZIZO at the Rose Hill in Brighton. The night proved to be a draw for local talented musicians, so we decided to start releasing music by ourselves and other local musicians that we thought reflected what we wanted the label to be – fresh, honest and punk in attitude. At the end of 2023 we re-branded our regular night from EMOM to Monomania, with a bigger focus on headline acts we thought represented the label. We also began our monthly radio show, Motor Skills, broadcast live on Brighton based radio network Slack City, playing the kind of grimey post-punk, Krautrock and electro we were into.
In 2024 we put together our first compilation album, Metronomic Underground, along with a launch party featuring all the acts involved at our de-facto home, The Rose Hill, and produced an accompanying zine designed by Evey. The album received an excellent review from Electronic Sound Magazine, and was included in the best albums of the year for 2024.
In 2025 we released Marina Moore’s debut album Baroque Era. Several tracks from the album have been played by Stuart Maconie on the Freak Zone and Jarvis Cocker’s Someday Service on BBC6 Music, as well as Hannah Peel’s show Night Time on BBC Radio 3.
Also in 2025 Evey released his first album proper, Far Beyond These Walls, with the track ‘Sadness in the Sky’ receiving airplay on Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone. The album was very well received and appeared in Electronic Sound’s top albums of the year for 2025.
We also released our second Metronomic Underground compilation in 2025, and did a very well attended album launch at the more prestigious Alphabet venue, and the record was also featured in Electronic Sound.
We also released our first international artist, Cairo’s Pie Are Squared, which was also well reviewed by Electronic Sound.
